“In a world of 7.6 billion people, one billion children between the ages of 2 and 17 have experienced some form of violence. In Europe, almost 18 million children have experienced sexual abuse, and 44 million children are victims of physical violence “- the data reminded us of prof.dr.sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, on today’s module on “Violence against children and among children in times of crisis (live and online) sexual abuse and exploitation and abuse and neglect of children during high-conflict divorces.”
Dear prof.dr.sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, long-term mentor of the expert team, educator and friend of BHIDAPA, shared her inexhaustible experience in working with children victims of sexual abuse and abuse and with children alienated in the process of high-conflict divorces, with special a look at the perspective of the health crisis. The professor introduced us to recent research related to children’s mental health in times of health crisis and risk factors for violence against and among children, recognition, guidance and responsibilities of professionals.
Participants also had the opportunity through an exercise, led by Marija Pavlović, dipl. psychologist and psychotherapist, to be aware of their capacities and further points of professional development in contact with abused children.
The Here & Now Virtual Crisis Intervention Project is being implemented in cooperation with UNICEF BiH, with the support of USAID and relevant ministries.
