Topic of the fifth module – Traps of treatment of children and adolescents if we are guided exclusively by the symptom and importance of educational institutions in preserving the mental health of children and youth

Topics of the fifth module, held on Friday, April 9, 2021. were: “Traps of treatment of children and adolescents if we are guided exclusively by the symptom” led by prof. dr. sc. Dubravka Kocijan Hercigonja, neuropsychiatrist and psychotherapist for children and adolescents and “The role of kindergartens and schools in preserving the mental health of children and youth in times of crisis” led by dipl. pedagogue Jelena Subašić, integrative psychotherapist for children and adolescents under supervision. We learned from our dear professor Dubravka Kocijan Hercigonja about the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents. The professor reminded us again of an important aspect of the treatment of children and young people through her instruction “Symptomatology is very similar in different causes, and the therapeutic approach is very different depending on the cause.” Inviting us to a multidisciplinary approach and intersectoral cooperation, the professor introduced us to another topic of the module, and colleague Jelena Subašić reminded us of the protective role of educational institutions in preserving the mental health of children and adolescents in times of crisis.

Thanks to Prof.dr.sc Dubravka Kocijan Hercigonja, , pedagogue Jelena Subašić, colleagues for their interest and active participation.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with UNICEF BiH, with the support of USAID and relevant ministries.
