Invitation to the Open Module on the topic: High-conflict divorces and child alienation syndrome, Gordana Buljan Flander, PhD clinical psychologist and psychotherapist

Dear Colleagues, Members and Friends of BHIDAPA,

We are pleased to announce the Module on the topic:

“High-conflict divorces and child alienation syndrome”

which will be held on 7 and 8 February 2020 in Sarajevo

The module will be led by an expert from the Council of Europe for the Protection of Children, Gordana Buljan Flander, PhD, Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist, Director of Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb

A series of studies consistently show that the severity of parental conflict, not divorce itself, is the primary reason for negative outcomes for the child’s development. High-conflict divorce is one of the most stressful experiences of growing up, and exposure to long-term and intense parental conflict today is justifiably regarded as psychological neglect and abuse of the child.

The module is open primarily to students of the European educational program in integrative child and adolescent psychotherapy, but also to persons involved in child protection, psychotherapy, treatment, upbringing, education, and improving the health of children and young people and their well-being.

Throughout the module, through theoretical presentation, practical examples, small group work and plenary discussions, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and act to protect the child in recognition:

  • high-conflict divorces and the consequences on a child
  • alienation syndrome and manipulative behavior of parents
  • interventions aimed at the best interests of the child
  • parental counseling and support, and
  • the importance of multidisciplinary and intersectoral cooperation

Venue: Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Sarajevo, Zmaja od Bosne 8, Sarajevo 71000

Dynamics:

  • Friday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
